Can I authenticate based on my IP address only?

In some limited circumstances we may (and at our discretion) be able to provide IP based authentication.

Please note that IP authentication is not 'recommended' and should be avoided where at all possible. It is typically designed to allow use with legacy hardware or applications that cannot support SMTP authentication (with a username / password) and where no other local infrastructure exists.

In addition:

  • Your AuthSMTP account must be at least AuthSMTP 10
  • The IP address must be static and only used by a single organisation
  • All addresses you send from must still be authorised as 'from' addresses in our Control Panel
  • It should not be relied upon and may have to be removed due to security or operational issues

If you wish to enable IP authentication please raise a support ticket on your account via the Control Panel.
